Ups 600 Continuous Beep With New Battery
Can you provide the model of the UPS?

Bad battery or bad ground.
Try it in other locations to see if it is a grounding issue.
Also make sure the battery terminals are connected securely and not loose.
I usually get a small spark when I change a battery in or APC UPS 1500 devices.

Lick the terminals to see if the battery is good.

The unit may be toast. Do you have another battery to swap out and try?
Here is some posts from the APC support forum which may help reset the unit:

It definitely sounds like you may need to warrany replace that :/

David - Our tech support is happy to help you out, but they'll need a little more information (particularly what type of unit). It might be easiest for me to just put you in touch with them directly either by phone or email. Let me know if that would be helpful.

its a smart UPS 2U Rack mount 3000VA
I got the small spark when i connected the battery

I believe a constant tone usually indicates an overload.

ihave the electricians looking if its grounded ok now
i will get back on you when they checked

The constant beep is an indication that the unit is not receiving AC power. So, make sure that the input breaker on the rear of the unit is switched on. If that doesn't work, try disconnecting the blue connector from the battery pack and then plug the connector back in and if the unit sparks, then there is a problem with how the batteries are wired together.
If that doesn't solve the problem, there's is likely an internal issue with the unit and it needs to be serviced.

ok i tested it again and its the same
in the back there is a black switch does it have to be on or off
thumb_up thumb_down
That's likely the breaker switch - it needs to be on
thumb_up thumb_down
the switch is on when i take battery out and plug UPS there are no lights is that normal ?
the moment i put in the battery it starts beep
thumb_up thumb_down
the switch is turned to the right i can read on on it so it should work i think
thumb_up thumb_down
The batteries have to be plugged into the unit in order for it to be on, so yes that's normal. It might be easier for you to contact our tech support directly, as I admittedly don't know as much as them :). If you'd like, email Lew at lkerney@cbmi.com. I've been talking to him about your issue so he's up-to-speed.

Assuming the battery is connected properly and in good state, another other reason it could be beeping is if the wiring is not correct at the location. Faulty unit maybe?
thumb_up thumb_down
There can be a number of issues here,
1) you have not connected the batteries properly. -You seemed to have done that fine
2) Bad Batteries - YOu can use a Volt meter and test your batteries, but if it sparks that is
Hi guys,
i just installed our apc UPS i connected the battery and put on the power
when i put up power it gives a constand beep tone it never stops
it only stops when i put power out and disconect the battery from the UPS
can anyone help me please
usually good.
3) Bad Grounding or polarity is incorrrect- Look and see if the red light is on, on the bcak of the unit for site wiring fault. If so get that checked immediately.
4) Bad UPS - Get it replaced.

Did you call tech support?
When pluggin in a battery one has to press test to reset the electronics. Tech support or RTFM usually take care of that. not that anyone would admit to missing something that simple.

Recently bought 5 for staff and found two of them bad; run time just went down to zero overnight with a 20% load. APC Support staff sent me replacements and return tags.
I expected better product, but their cutomer support made up for it.

I use alot of APC UPS like this one. Believe it or not, the APC have alot of weird software bugs. For example, I have units that alarm on bad battery, even though the batteries are good. The issue is the APC has some algorithm where it tries to predict battery runtime, that prediction can get messed up.
you can try resetting the unit, this requires a small load - devices that can be powered off of course. So with an amp or two of load, hold the battery test button indefinitely. After a few seconds, the battery test will cycle - KEEP holding the button down, eventually, the unit will reset and power off. At that point, unplug everything including the UPS, then reconnect and turn on. This should clear up most issues.
